About
Ammar Almasri — electronics and telecommunications engineer by training, senior Odoo consultant, IT project manager. Based in the Paris region, France.
I first worked with OpenERP in 2015, on side projects alongside my main job, before moving to Odoo full time in 2017, building internal databases and CRM tooling for a relationship-marketing agency. Since then I have been a development manager at an IT managed-services firm, a senior consultant at an Odoo Gold Partner, and, since late 2025, an independent consultant working directly with clients.
That path matters more than it sounds. I have sat on the client side, writing scoping notes and defending a budget internally. I have sat on the integrator side, delivering against someone else's specification. And I now sit on my own, which means when I tell you a feature is not worth building, nobody is paying me to say otherwise.
What that taught me
An ERP is not a technical problem. It is an organisational problem with a technical layer on top. The code is the easy part.
Most projects fail before a single line is written, in the gap between what people say they need and what they actually do every day. That is why I start with workshops and process mapping rather than configuration, and why I will challenge a request before I build it. Politely, but I will challenge it.
How I work
Standard first. Custom development only where it creates genuine business value. Every line of specific code is a line someone has to migrate at the next version upgrade.
Scope written and frozen before we start. Short weekly check-ins. No surprise invoices.
Honest arbitrage. If Odoo is not the right answer for you, I will say so before you sign, not halfway through the project.
Technical ground
Odoo: v13, v15, v18, v19 — configuration, custom module development in Python, version migrations, API integrations and connectors.
Functional areas: CRM and sales, invoicing, project management and field service, inventory, HR.
Sectors: insurance and services, solar energy, IT managed services, relationship marketing.
Stack: Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, XML, HTML and CSS, plus a background in network and systems administration that turns out to be useful more often than expected.
Background
Engineering studies at ECE Paris, after a degree in electronic and telecommunications engineering from Kalamoon University in Damascus. A research project in software defined radio somewhere in between, which is where I learned that elegant theory and working systems are not the same thing.
I work in French, English and Arabic — and I deliver training in all three.
